Restless People

Restless People

(IAMSOUND)

Record Review by Kevan Peterson

Mixing genres to mostly solid results, band Restless People, fuse dance, world and eighties influences to create a sound of their own.  Opening track “Days of Our Lives,” which has nothing to do with the soap opera of the same name, is a catchy tune that found mainly positive responses when released online prior to the self-titled Restless People.  “Constant People” plays into the careless summer sounds of reggae and dancehall, while “Don’t Back Down” drops the reggae for stone-washed jeans and coifed hair.

Restless People is that rare band that is still small enough that you can contact them directly on their MySpace page, but has a sound that may propel them soon to far more then the less then four hundred friends they currently have.  Additional stand out tracks include “Little Sky,” an island rock diddy and “Practical Magic I and II,” which the album probably could have survived with only half of, but at a slim eight tracks a little extra fat doesn’t hurt.
