The Whore Moans

Hello From The Radio Wasteland

(Mt. Fuji)

Record Review by Marcel Feldmar

This band slams out with instant “in your face” rock that makes no apologies as it screams and kicks you in the head. I definitely get thrown some dive bar Seattle memories as I listen to this CD, picturing the band playing on some small dim-lit stage as I sit at the bar with a cheap pint of Pabst. That is not a bad thing.

It’s four-on-the-floor, shut the door, rock ‘n’roll, leaves you sore. This is thirteen songs pushed and packed into a nice ‘n’ tight little disc of garage-stained punk rock boozed-up mayhem, and you just can’t help but get all revved up and ready to go. Some of the songs move at a slightly darker pace, but still with all the energy held intact. Drive drive drive, and then explode. Hints of that early grunge sound fall in places, but are quickly obliterated by the scattershot vocals that hit harder than the drums at times.

I get overwhelmed while listening to some of these songs, they wash and hit and roll over me with the same energy and joy that comes from listening to the Replacements, the Clash, the Sex Pistols… the song “White Noise Melody” actually makes me feel like I’m listening to some obscure Replacements B-Side where they’re covering an even more obscure Clash song. This song gets hit with the “Repeat”, as I have to hear it again before I move on. It’s not like discovering a new style or sound, but it’s giving those sounds you love a little kick in the pants, a fresh coat of paint.

Get the motor running…

Say good-bye to the same old boring songs, say hello to the radio wasteland
